I have Celiac disease and was quite pleased that they have a gluten free menu. The wait staff were all well versed in what constitutes gluten free.

She has taken the simplicity of southern dishes and has made them into experiences.

The food and service surpassed any of our expectations. I believe that Vivian Howard's approach to southern cooking is unique and absolutely amazing.

Where to start.... I started watching Chef and the Farmer on PBS. Then I got Vivian Howard book and finally this past Wednesday my husband and I had dinner at her restaurant (my Christmas present).

Everything was superb. We were seated promptly. The waitstaff was attentive and helpful. Our niece is gluten free only, so we called ahead and she had her own special GF menu! Terrific service. All our dishes were delicious and expertly prepared. Cannot say enough, you'll have to go yourself

Excellent. Had to go gluten free and they have a menu plus will attempt to take regular menu items and prepare them gluten free. I had NC shrimp and grits. Unbelievable flavors (I accentuate the plural) in that dish. Of particular note was the flash fried collards and sea salt. Just like a thin, crispy chip. Desert was cinnamon ice cream with caramel and salted glazed pecans. I didn’t have a reservation but they made the effort and seated me. Recommend a reservation. The staff from greeting to service was as good as I have ever experienced. Vivian Howard should be proud of her folks. I fully recommend this place. Kinston is less than hour off I95 so if you have the time, take it.

She transformed something simple like collard greens into an experience. Everything that we order was amazing and you can taste the love, dedication and innovation behind every dish.

I appreciate the fact that she embraces our local farmers and produce.

A North Carolina native encouraged me to try shrimp and grits for the first time and I'm glad I did it at this fine establishment. The ingredients were fresh, and the blend of flavors was like nothing I had ever tasted. Add excellent service and charming ambiance and you have a one-of-a-kind experience that's worth traveling for. I highly recommend this restaurant!

The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional. Highly recommend to anyone who is interested in taking the drive to Kinston. If you have a dietary restriction, just contact the restaurant via email. They returned my inquiry within an hour and had everything prepared for our reservation.

By the way her book is great and I had tried a couple of her recipes and they are really good and simple enough for a home cook like me to make.

I hope my husband takes me back for my birthday (July) so we can experience the flavors of the summer executed by this incredible chef.
